Amongst the chaos of relocating across the globe while juggling a full-time job, freelancing, parenting, side hustling, and content creating, I managed to create something incredibly valuable: a list of 100 opening hooks for video scripts and social media posts.

These hooks are designed to grab attention and take your content to the next level. Honestly, I was hesitant to share this publicly because of how powerful they are, but what’s the point of holding back when so many of you could benefit?

Here’s a quick hack to make the most of these hooks in your content creation:

1. Go to ChatGPT (or your CustomGPT) and start a new chat or continue your existing one.

2. Enter this prompt: “Take the following opening hooks and add them to your memory. I want you to reference these and choose the most effective opening hook for the video script I’ll create. Here are the opening hooks: < insert hooks >.”

3. Now, ChatGPT will “memorise” your hooks and suggest the best scroll-stopping opening lines for your future video scripts.

4. Start crafting killer scripts, and watch your engagement grow!

During my weekly YouTube Live session with Casey Watkins, I learned a fantastic way to turn your YouTube channel visitors into subscribers—right from your channel’s homepage.

Here’s how to set up a channel subscription link that makes subscribing easier and more enticing: (instructions outlined below)

1. Go to your channel’s homepage (e.g., https://www.youtube.com/@HalfwaytoNerdom).

2. Add this modifier to the end of the URL: ?sub_confirmation=1.
   Your updated URL will look like this:
   https://www.youtube.com/@HalfwaytoNerdom?sub_confirmation=1.

3. Head over to YouTube Studio → Customization → Links.

4. Add your custom subscription link:

   • Link Title: Subscribe (FREE!)

   • URL: The modified link you created.

This will create a clickable “Subscribe (FREE!)” link for your viewers, helping you turn casual visitors into loyal subscribers.

Pro tip: Add this link at the end of your video descriptions, too. Small changes like this can make a big difference in growing your channel.

🐝 1 Thought I Had This Week

Consistency is the secret ingredient.

Lately, I’ve noticed my views haven’t been as strong. At first, I was worried. But then I remembered something every successful YouTuber says: You need to push through the tough times to get to the good times.

Rather than dwell on the slump, I’ve been using it as an opportunity to learn and grow. I’ve spent the past month:

• Researching strategies to grow on YouTube.

• Exploring new tools to streamline my content creation process.

• Experimenting with exciting new content ideas.

• Staying consistent with this newsletter (thank YOU for reading!).

The truth is, without the tough moments, we wouldn’t be forced to adapt, improve, and innovate. Slumps might feel discouraging, but they’re also a chance to learn something you didn’t know before—and that knowledge could open doors to new opportunities.

So, if you’re feeling stuck, hang in there. Stay consistent, ride the wave, and keep learning. The breakthrough will come.
